Emilie C. Pozoulakis, MS, NP-C, RN, CLC
Lactation and Maternal Support of Maryland was founded because Emilie noted there was a profound gap in access to truly accessible, evidence-based and holistic breastfeeding, lactation, and perinatal mental health care for moms. As a Nurse Practitioner and Certified Lactation Counselor, she made it her personal mission to bridge that gap in care for her surrounding, and greater Maryland, community.
Through her own personal journey as a mother who has breastfed three kids, struggled to find affordable lactation support, has battled mastitis, supply issues, engorgement, oversupply, DMER, latch issues, tethered oral tissue and more; - she understands the helplessness, desperation, and frustration that can come with the desire to breastfeed - ... a natural, but not always easy - process.
Emilie believes it is her mission to deliver personalized, comprehensive, honest, and quality care. She believes that health and wellness are multi-dimensional, holistic, and unique to each person; and not merely the absence of disease or an algorithm to follow.
Emilie is board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and is further board-certified through The Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice as a Certified Lactation Counselor. She possesses a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland, a Post-Master Certificate from the George Washington University, and has participated in doctoral level studies at Vanderbilt University. She has additional clinical experience in Primary Care, Oncology, Hospice & Palliative Care, Wound Care, Critical Care, and Home Care. Additionally, Emilie has advanced training in Functional Medicine, and prides herself on including an individualized approach to care.
In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, homemaking, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, reading, and spending quality time with her kids and husband.
